So, this summary will reflect the conclusions that serious believers have drawn from the Bible, not my own or other's opinions.First God is Holy, righteous, all-knowing, has been for all eternity past and has had a perfect plan in His mind that has been revealed in the Bible. This plan will finally be the BEST that you can imagine for God and for those who trust Him.So, we know that He created the angels to serve and worship Him of their own free will. (He did not want automatons, forced to do His will). So, His plan allowed for them to fail (sin). The most glorious of these angels, Satan, became full of pride, led a rebellion among the angels and one third of them fell into that sin. God had no plan to save these sinners. He allowed them to exist as demons under the leadership of Satan, awaiting a future eternal judgment. It may seem strange that a perfect righteous , all-powerful God would be faced with this "problem" of rebellion. But, the problem was (is) a piece of the perfect plan. God went forward with His plan's next step, to create the human race to live in a perfect environment. Again humans have free will to chose to obey God. (Not automatons). So, He used Satan and the demons to test the humans, and right away, they failed and also became sinners, and the environment was impacted by sin! However, with humans, He did not leave them in a "fixed" state of lostness as He did Satan and the demons. In His plan there would be forgiveness and redemption for the humans, if they chose to accept His love and salvation. A piece of His plan was to allow humans to live within His rules (Law) as best they could, for quite a bit of time, trying in various ways to overcome the problems that their sin had brought upon them. God also allowed Satan and his demonic horde to have access to the humans to further test their ability to live successfully within the problems they had brought upon themselves. Now, from the first point of their sinning, God began to promise that He would eventually send a Redeemer who would save them from their sins. This Redeemer was going to die for them, shedding His blood, a requirement for forgiveness. This coming death and sacrifice was constantly kept before them by instructing them to regularly sacrifice the choicest of their animals, picturing the coming Redeemer. And wonder of wonders, this Redeemer was going to be God Himself. Now, God had other things to do in addition to the redemption of the human race, such as, keeping the universe going successfully etc. So while He wanted to make the GREATEST act of LOVE we can imagine, dying in my place so that I can be forgiven, He also had to run the universe! There was a solution built into His perfect plan! We know from the Bible that God is One being made up of three persons, the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit. So the Son could die for us while the Father continued to rule and sustain the universe. Finally God executed this major piece of His plan. He sent His Son to be born of a human mother, to live in this wicked world, live a sinless life, demonstrate that He is (was) the Son of God by showing His power over sickness, even over death. Also, exerting power over nature etc. Then, the majority of the humans, under the influence of Satan and his demons, completely rejected this perfect "man-God" and fulfilled the most important piece of the plan by killing their Creator God, making the perfect, required sacrifice for sin! The next, equally, important piece of the plan was His resurrection from the dead! So, Jesus Christ, God Himself, lived among us for about 40 days, was seen by over 500 persons, left instructions with His followers to spread this great good news among all people. And then He was taken up into Heaven, assuring His followers that He would return and would then complete the plan. He would finally make the permanent division between the evil beings, Satan, his demons and the Christ rejecting humans, into eternal Hell. And the holy beings, His faithful angels, and the redeemed believing humans from all ages, will gather together with Him, into His eternal Heaven. Now, to date it has taken about 7000 years on the earth to work out His plan. It appears that we are living in the time when God will soon complete His overall plan! Those humans who rejected His plan in times past are spiritually dead awaiting their certain eternal doom. Those who accepted God's plan of redemption are spiritually alive with God awaiting the final fulfillment of His eternal glorious plan for them!

Then one day, God tapped John on the shoulder and changed his career path just a little bit. Following his call to ministry, John graduated from Regent University with a Masters in Practical Theology in 2008. He was ordained in January of 2011 by Conifer Community Church in Conifer, Colorado. John has been active in church life since his conversion and has served in multiple ways as a Layman; Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of Missions, Chairman of Adult Ministries, Chairman of Prayer Ministries, and Chairman of Small Groups Ministries. In 2013, Bridge Community Church called him to come and serve as their pastor. John has been our Pastor since June 1, 2013. John has been married to his wife, Cindy, since 1978. They met while in High School, got to know each other within the church youth group, and began dating shortly after graduating from High School in 1975. John and Cindy have no children, but they love their two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Smoky and Appalachia. John says that one of his favorite books in the Bible is the letter to the Galatians. Their struggle with legalism is something we so easily fall into as well. When relaxing, he enjoys hiking, reading, and watching action movies. Recreational reading is generally westerns or sword and sorcery. Being “basically lazy”, both John and Cindy try to be consistent in getting enough exercise by walking every day. They currently live on Hartstene Pointe which is the perfect environment for walking! Don’t forget to tell John and Cindy how much you appreciate all they do for our church family. Is it best to pray standing up, sitting down, kneeling, or bowing down? Should our hands be open, closed, or lifted up to God? Do our eyes need to be closed when we pray? Is it better to pray in a church building or out in nature? Should we pray in the morning when we get up or at night before we go to bed? Are there certain words we need to say in our prayers? How do we begin our prayers? What is the proper way to close a prayer? These questions, and others, are common questions asked about prayer. What is the proper way to pray? Do any of the above things even matter? Answers : Far too often, prayer is viewed as a “magic formula.” Some believe that if we do not say exactly the right things, or pray in the right position, God will not hear and answer our prayer. This is completely unbiblical. God does not answer our prayers based on when we pray, where we are, what position our body is in, or in what order we word our prayers. We are told in 1 John 5:14-15 to have confidence when we come to God in prayer, knowing He hears us and will grant whatever we ask as long as it is in His will. Similarly, John 14:13-14 declares, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” According to these and many other Scriptures, God answers prayer requests based on whether they are asked according to His will and in the name of Jesus (to bring glory to Jesus). So, what is the proper way to pray? Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to pray without being anxious, to pray about everything, and to pray with thankful hearts. God will answer all such prayers with the gift of His peace in our hearts. The proper way to pray is to pour out our hearts to God, being honest and open with God, as He already knows us better than we know ourselves. We are to present our requests to God, keeping in mind that God knows what is best and will not grant a request that is not His will for us. We are to express our love, gratitude, and worship to God in prayer without worrying about having just the right words to say. God is more interested in the content of our hearts than the eloquence of our words. The closest the Bible comes to giving a “pattern” for prayer is the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. Please understand that the Lord’s Prayer is not a prayer we are to memorize and recite to God. It is an example of the things that should go into a prayer—worship, trust in God, requests, confession, and submission. We are to pray for the things the Lord’s Prayer talks about, using our own words and “customizing” it to our own journey with God. The proper way to pray is to express our hearts to God. Sitting, standing, or kneeling; hands open or closed; eyes opened or closed; in a church, at home, or outside; in the morning or at night—these are all side issues, subject to personal preference, conviction, and appropriateness. God’s desire is for prayer to be a real and personal connection between Himself and us.

We invite you to check out our offerings from the list to the right and to join us in our worship of our Lord. Adult Bible Study Adult Bible Study (Life groups) will come and go through the year but generally meet together weekly for Christian fellowship, prayer, and Bible study. There are currently several Life Groups available to anyone interested in attending. Please see Pastor John for specific days, times, and topics. In general, there are mid-week Bible studies going on, of course the Sunday School hour is focused on biblical studies, and then our Life Groups also have a Bible Study component. See the bullet for Life Groups for more details about those. The objectives for our Bible studies include: Study Scripture - The main objective of this ministry is to provide a small group setting where the Scriptures can be examined, discussed, and applied to our daily lives--thus building us up to maturity, that we might be made complete in Christ (Colossian 1:28). Build Relationships - Fellowship includes building relationships, being accountable to one another, and hospitality. Christianity is modeled in these groups and each person is a contributor and participant who adds diversity to the body. Many lasting friendships have developed through Bible study groups. Pray Together - At each study, a time is set aside for sharing praises, requests, and needs with one another and then praying for and about them. Sometimes the prayer time (or perhaps the entire study) focuses on praising and thanking the Lord for His mercies. Serve the Body - Ministry is a broad term. As people grow in their relationship to Christ through the study and application of God's Word, a desire to serve others develops. Many serving opportunities are available within Home Bible Studies and a Home Bible Study is also a great place to learn about the ministries at Bridge Community Church. Profitable Bible study involves more than just opening to a chapter and reading what's there. Here are six guidelines to help you make the most of your study of the Bible. 1. Set aside a regular time. Unless you schedule it, you'll neglect it. 2. Before you start reading, ask God for help and understanding. 3. Carefully think about what you are reading. The treasures of the Bible seldom lie like pebbles on the surface. To mine the gold, you have to dig. 4. Before you decide what a passage means to you, try to understand what the author was saying to the original readers. 5. Write down at least one truth or principle you can put into practice. 6. Don't get discouraged. Some parts of the Bible are difficult to understand, but there's much that you can understand. And if you apply what you've learned, it will revolutionize your life. Keep these principles in mind and use this method whenever you study God's Word. If you do, you will begin to discover the treasures of the Bible. Children's Church Children's Church is available every sunday. Ages 4 through 11 will accompany their parents into the sanctuary for worship and will be released to Kid’s Church at the start of the teaching time (usually about 10:45 a.m.). NOTE: The kids church program will be taking a break during the summer. It will end on may 31st and begin again on Sep 13th. Other activities will be offered for the younger children through the summer. The nursery will continue to be available. What about Child Security? We take child security seriously. A thorough background investigation has been conducted on every person working with our children. If you have any concerns, please direct them to a greeter in the lobby. We want you and your children to feel safe and secure in our building. Men's Breakfast & Bible Study The Men’s Breakfast takes place on the 1st Saturday of each month here at the church. We start at 8:00 a.m. with a hearty breakfast and time of visiting together. Then, generally around 9:00 a.m., we begin an open ended Bible study and discussion time. This is carefully tailored to avoid being a lecture time and is more a time of listening to each other and seeking to understand what the passage under discussion for that day has to say. We are normally done around 10:00 a.m. This is an informal and friendly time, come as you are. Bring your Bible if you have one, and be prepared to be challenged to apply the Scriptures in practical ways. Nursery Care Our Nursery is available throughout the service and is open to all children ages 0 through 3. Ages 4 through 11 should accompany their parents into the sanctuary for worship time (singing), and will be released to Kid’s Church at the start of the teaching time. Nursery = 0 through Age 3 - We offer a nursery for babies through age 3 for all church wide events. Nursing moms are welcome to use our nursery room to feed your baby. If you need another location, please ask an attendant in the nursery for assistance. What about Child Security? We take child security seriously. A thorough background investigation has been conducted on every person working with your children. If you have any concerns, please direct them to a greeter in the lobby. We want you and your children to feel safe and secure in our building. Sunday School Please Join us at the church every Sunday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m for Adult Sunday School currently being led by Fred Burgdorf and David Bauer. Don't worry about droping in any Sunday - there's no beginning and no end unless the rapture occurs. All are welcome! Women's Fellowship Women’s Fellowship – A time when ladies of all ages meet together on the second Saturday of each month, September-June, from 10:00 - 12:00. We start with a brunch-like meal, followed by a devotional speaker, and one of the ladies gives a testimony. It’s a perfect time to get to know one another better. In June and December we have special meetings. June is our Ladies Friendship Tea, from 1:00 - 3:00; and December is Mugs and Muffins, from 10:00 -12:00. Worship Team The Bridge Community Worship Team performs on stage every Sunday morning, singing the opening and closing worship songs. Prayer is our lifeline to God. There is no life without prayer. But prayer can be misguided and self centered. Our Lord gives us a pattern for prayer that focuses on God, not ourselves and our desires. ADORATION “Our Father, who is in heaven” ‘Our’ shows we are part of the body of Christ, the community of believers. ‘Father’ emphasizes our continuing relationship with God. This relationship gives us access to Him. He loves and cares for His children. He is wise and able. ‘who is in heaven’ indicates His transcendence, greatness, and glory. He is over all, and providentially caring for each of His children. ‘hallowed be Your name’ is the first petition. God’s name and person is worthy of all honor and adoration. May this begin in our own hearts. We use His name reverently. We honor His name by walking worthy of His calling. We honor our Father’s name by having a character and life that pleases Him. SURRENDER TO GOD’S WILL “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven’ We desire Him to rule in our life and in our world. We submit our will to Him. We desire His will to be done (Psa. 40:8) in all areas of our life. DEPENDENCE “Give us this day our daily bread.” We depend on God to provide the necessities of life for our physical needs. He gives us life, strength, abilities, opportunities to work, and stable society so we can fulfill our responsibilities. We also need food for our soul from the Word, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit to enable us to live in Christ. FORGIVENESS “Forgive us our debts (sins), and we forgive our debtors (those who have sinned against us). We acknowledge that we have offended God and failed to love and obey Him fully. We come confidently to Him because He has promised to forgive us and cleanse us when we confess (agree with Him) our sins to Him (I John 1:9). We forgive those who have offended us. PROTECTION “Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the Evil One”. The Lord is our shield. He is our protection from Satan. But there are real temptations. We pray He will enable us to recognize these temptations and chose the way of escape (I Cor. 10:13). We pray we will resist Satan so he will flee from us (I Pet. 5:8-9). WORSHIP AND PRAISE “Yours is the kingdom and power and glory forever.” We adore the Lord for His rule and authority and majesty which endures forever.
