1.  Introduction ~ so far we’ve seen Jesus’ coming prophesied

     1.1. then we saw that He is-& yet will 1 day be-King over all

2.  Context ~ but what is He like? this is Moses’ question Ex 33:18-20 

     2.1.  @ the appointed time God settled that question Luke 2:11-12

            2.1.1.  God reveals that He can be counted on Ex 33:18 

3.  To Know More ~ about God’s nature was Moses’ objective Ex 33:14 

     3.1.  God responds Ex 33:19 in multiple ways Matt 1:23 

4.  Background ~ mankind once walked in the presence of God Gen 3:8 

     4.1.  that will be possible again 1 day 1 John 3:2  Rev 21:3-4 

            4.1.1.  for now our sinfulness limits us Gen 33:20  1 Cor 13:12 

5.  Reassurance ~ was needed by Moses as he sought to serve God

     5.1.  the Israelites had sinned rather extensively Ex 32:19 

            5.1.1.  Moses needed to know if God was done w/them Ex 33:19 

            5.1.2.  in response God reveals His name repeated from Ex 3:14 

     5.2.  the truth is God is beyond our ability to understand Isa 55:8-9 

6.  Severed Relations ~ was the risk Moses faced because of sin

     6.1.  Moses had already seen aspects of God Ex 19:18  Ex 24:18 

            6.1.1.  now God’s response references His sovereignty Ex 33:19b 

            6.1.2.  God says He will be gracious & merciful Ex 33:19b 

7.  A Partial Answer ~ is given-Moses cannot see God directly Ex 33:20 

     7.1.  He is granted to see God’s glory as described in Rev 4:2-3 

            7.1.1.  we need to know that God has our backs John 14:6-7 

8.  Application ~ He invites us to experience victory thru Him John 15:5 

     8.1.  God answers the question “Is God done with us?”  

            8.1.1.  that answer is a resounding “no!” John 1:16-18 

     8.2.  we can rest in God’s faithfulness thru Jesus John 14:18-19
